The Existence of Dementia

  • Zoom
  • 7th Jul '23 10.00 am – 12.00 pm

This workshop will approach dementia within two different epistemological frameworks - asking 'what is dementia?' and 'how is dementia lived?'. Within a phenomenological exploration, the lived nature of dementia in the context of interpersonal relationships, in time and in context will be considered. Case studies, based on Simon's lived encounters with the phenomenon, will be considered.

Simon Wharne is a Counselling Psychologist and Deputy Course Leader for the DCPsych programme at NSPC. He has worked in the NHS in research and service design of outreach services for those who live in the community with severe and enduring mental health problems, and as a Counselling Psychologist in an older adult community mental health service.

The workshop will be delivered online.
