Working Existentially Toward Death

  • Online
  • 28th Apr '26 11.00 am – 1.00 pm

This advanced workshop explores how existential philosophy informs clinical work with death, grief, and mortality. Drawing on thinkers such as Martin Heidegger, Paul Tillich, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Karl Jaspers, participants will examine death as an existential horizon that shapes meaning, identity, and authenticity.

The workshop translates key philosophical concepts into accessible clinical language and practice. It integrates contemporary grief theory, including meaning reconstruction approaches inspired by Robert Neimeyer, offering practical frameworks for working with loss, death anxiety, and identity reorganisation.

Through case discussion, experiential exercises, and reflective dialogue, participants will deepen their tolerance for existential anxiety, strengthen their therapeutic presence, and develop the courage to accompany clients at the edge of finitude.

This workshop is suitable for qualified therapists and advanced trainees seeking to enrich their existential clinical practice.
